The Power Of Curiosity: Amanda Ferber On Architecture’s Evolving Narrative
“How do we keep architecture relevant in a world changing faster than ever?” With this question, Amanda Ferber opened the latest Architecture Hunter webinar, sharing insights from her journey as founder and editor. Her talk focused on how architecture and digital storytelling come together to shape the way people see and connect with design today.
Amanda began by recalling how Architecture Hunter started as a personal passion for discovering and sharing projects that might otherwise go unseen. For her, architecture is not only about buildings but about stories that bridge cultures, ideas, and people. “Architecture is a universal language,” she said, “and digital media lets us share it with the whole world.”
Throughout the session, Amanda spoke about the importance of communication in architecture. She believes that in a world full of content and fast scrolling, architects must go beyond showing beautiful images. They should tell the stories behind their work - about the choices they make, the people they design for, and the challenges they overcome. “People want to connect with the human side of architecture,” she said. “Authenticity leaves a stronger impact than perfect photos alone.”
Amanda also highlighted how digital platforms have changed the way architects share their work. Tools like Instagram give young architects and small studios a chance to reach a global audience, opening doors that were once closed. However, she cautioned that this visibility comes with responsibility. “Content has power,” Amanda reminded viewers, encouraging professionals to share work with purpose and avoid chasing trends without meaning.
Looking toward the future, Amanda spoke with optimism about how technology, sustainability, and social issues are influencing architectural practice. She shared examples of architects working with communities, rethinking how to use existing buildings, and exploring new materials. For her, these shifts show how architecture can stay relevant and meaningful in a fast-changing world.
In closing, Amanda urged architects and designers to stay curious and open-minded. “Architecture is about exploring possibilities,” she said. “We have the chance to tell new stories - and maybe change the world while we’re at it.”
Her words offered a timely reminder that architecture’s greatest strength lies not only in forms and structures, but in the connections it sparks between people and ideas.
