Casa dos Sobreiros: a close bond with nature.

_project: Casa dos Sobreiros

When filmmaker Sara first laid eyes on Casa dos Sobreiros designed by Trama Arquitectos, three key aspects captured her attention: the home's deep integration with its external environment and natural landscape, the intricate layout of the bathroom, crafted for daily use yet retaining an aesthetic appeal, and the superb execution of the construction.

Interestingly, Sara's narrative for the Casa dos Sobreiros film suggests an influence from the universe of 007 movies. While it wasn't her initial intention, upon reflection, she recognizes that there are aspects that echo the famed franchise. The choice of soundtrack, the home's relationship with the cars, the large glass panes similar to those featured in 007 films, and the utilization of technology throughout the house inadvertently transport the viewers into the thrilling world of James Bond.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Casa dos Sobreiros is its close bond with nature. The film introduces us to the dwelling via a car approaching a blind facade made of schist and corten steel. The entrance reveals the project's symbiosis with the landscape, not just through expansive glass panels, but also through a lake extending from the entrance to the living room. The windows, when retracted, further emphasize the harmony between the house and the surrounding cork oak trees, creating the illusion of a floating garden.

The film presents a day in the life of the house, showcasing the fluidity between the kitchen, living room, dining room, and bedrooms, all located on the ground floor. The superior craftsmanship and materials used are evident, and the spaces are arranged thoughtfully to mirror daily routines and routes. Even the bathrooms receive the same attention as the noblest areas of the house. As night falls, the film concludes with an exploration of the house's illuminations, highlighting the intricate relationship between light and architecture.

Maintaining a balance between spotlighting the unique features of Casa dos Sobreiros and building an engaging narrative was indeed challenging. However, Sara's extensive experience in filming architecture helped her navigate this creative task. Emphasizing the house's relationship with the landscape and its advanced home automation was central to her approach. On the day of the shooting, she was fortunate to have the homeowners, along with their cat and dog, participate in the film, further illuminating how the Casa dos Sobreiros can truly be lived in throughout the day.
