WGNB

“For WGNB, Seoul is not simply the city where the studio is located; it is the context that continuously shapes our way of  thinking about space. Seoul is a city defined by density, rapid transformation, and the coexistence of very different layers of time. Traditional hanok neighborhoods exist alongside contemporary high-rise developments, while small-scale alleyways remain embedded within a highly urbanized fabric. This overlapping condition creates a unique spatial tension that often informs how we approach our projects. Working in Seoul means constantly negotiating between permanence and change. The city evolves quickly, yet traces of everyday life, material culture, and local memory persist within it. For our studio, this dynamic environment becomes an ongoing reference point — influencing our sensitivity to scale, materiality, and the relationship between space and its
surrounding context. In this sense, Seoul functions as both a background and an active collaborator in our work. Its complexity, contrasts, and rhythm continuously filter into the way we conceive and design spaces.”
